A native of Grand Rapids, Michigan, clarinetist, Monica Zsolt has been actively studying clarinet and performing since 1995. Since the start of her musical career, she has performed with numerous ensembles including the Grand Rapids Youth Symphony where she held the principal chair position, wind ensembles including the Grand Valley State University Symphonic Wind Ensemble, GVSU Concert Band where she also held the principal clarinet position, The Grand River Winds, Tennessee Valley Winds, (www.tnvalleywinds.org) and most recently, The Nashville Praise Symphony (www.nashvillepraise.org), where she serves as principal clarinetist. In January, 2012, Monica will be serving as principal clarinetist in the orchestra accompanying the phenomenal family talent of the Annie Moses Band (www.anniemosesband.com), at the prestigious Carnegie Hall in New York City, NY. In addition to her ensemble performances, Monica travels the country performing with her husband and gospel pianist, Alex-Zsolt of Alex-Zsolt Ministries (www.pianocreations.com).
Biography
In 2008, Monica earned her Bachelor’s of Music Education (BME) with Performance Honors from Grand Valley State University in Allendale, MI. During her study at GVSU, Zsolt was actively involved in the Laker Marching Band, holding positions as music and marching section leader. She was awarded the “Outstanding Marching Band Member” award for the 2004 season as well as the “I Am Grand Valley” student leadership award.
Monica has taught privately and run her own studio since 2001. Many of her students have gone on to study at accredited music schools across the country and continue to accomplish their musical goals. In addition to teaching privately, Monica has taught middle school band in the Michigan public school system and is currently teaching in both Wilson and Williamson counties in the Nashville, TN area.
In addition to her public school teaching assignments and private student schedule, Monica is currently serving as interim orchestra director at Hermitage Hills Baptist Church in Hermitage, TN. (www.hhbconline.com) The HHBC orchestra is a wonderful group of dedicated musicians, instrumentalists, and fellow believers, using their God-given gifts to worship and glorify the name of Jesus Christ through music.
